Once the mapping feels automatic, increase difficulty by adding another valid response, shortening the decision window or introducing a distractor that must be ignored.

When comparing sessions, record both correct-response time and error rate. A useful improvement is being able to preserve the same accuracy at a faster pace, or improve accuracy without becoming substantially slower. This is more informative than treating the single quickest correct response as the entire result.
